Impacted or painful wisdom tooth? Ease Dental's MDS Oral Surgeon removes wisdom teeth gently and precisely — even complex surgical cases. Most patients say the procedure was far easier than the pain they'd been tolerating.
Wisdom tooth extraction is the surgical removal of the third molars — the last teeth to erupt, typically between ages 17 and 25 — when they are impacted (stuck beneath the gum), growing at an angle, causing pain, crowding adjacent teeth, or leading to infection. At Ease Dental in Greater Noida West, wisdom tooth extractions — including complex surgical removals — are performed under local anaesthesia with minimal post-operative discomfort and rapid recovery.
Understanding Your Condition
Not every wisdom tooth requires extraction. Wisdom teeth that erupt fully, are positioned correctly, and can be cleaned properly are often left in place. However, most people in India do not have sufficient jaw space for wisdom teeth to erupt without causing problems.
Patients visiting Ease Dental in Greater Noida West for wisdom tooth consultation most commonly present with pain and swelling at the back of the mouth, difficulty opening the jaw fully, an unpleasant taste or smell near the last tooth (indicating infection), and pressure pain in the adjacent second molar. Early evaluation and timely extraction prevents these problems from escalating into severe infections that require hospitalisation.
Wisdom tooth infections can spread rapidly to the jaw, throat, and neck — a medical emergency. If you notice any of these warning signs, book an emergency appointment at Ease Dental immediately.
Decision Guide
A clinical assessment at Ease Dental will determine the right approach. Here are the general guidelines that inform that decision.
Procedure Types
The complexity of removal depends on the tooth's position and depth. Our MDS Oral Surgeon handles all cases — simple to the most complex.
Performed when the wisdom tooth has fully erupted above the gumline and is accessible with standard extraction instruments. The tooth is loosened with an elevator instrument and removed with forceps.
Required when the wisdom tooth is partially or fully impacted within the jawbone. A small incision is made in the gum, obstructing bone is removed, and the tooth is sectioned for safe removal. Sutures are placed and dissolve on their own.
For patients with significant dental anxiety or those requiring multiple wisdom teeth removed simultaneously. Sedation options can be discussed during your Ease Dental consultation to ensure complete comfort throughout.
What to Expect
Patients at Ease Dental who have undergone wisdom tooth extraction consistently report that the procedure itself was much less uncomfortable than the pre-extraction pain they had been experiencing.
Most patients return to work within 2–3 days after a surgical extraction and fully recover within 7–10 days.
Full anaesthesia ensures no pain. You feel pressure and movement — never sharp pain. Procedure takes 20–45 minutes for surgical cases.
Mild bleeding controlled with gauze. Swelling starts. Apply ice pack — 20 minutes on, 20 minutes off. Soft diet, rest, take medication as prescribed.
Swelling and soreness peak then begin to reduce. Warm salt water rinses from Day 2. Most patients require pain medication these days.
Noticeable reduction in pain and swelling. Soft diet continues. Sutures begin to dissolve. Most return to work by this point.
Most patients are fully recovered. Normal diet resumed. Sutures dissolved or removed if non-dissolving. Extraction site continues to heal over coming weeks.
Recovery Guide
Following these instructions precisely is the most important factor in smooth wisdom tooth recovery. Ease Dental provides every patient with written aftercare instructions.
Bite firmly on gauze for 30–45 minutes after the procedure to control bleeding
Apply ice pack to cheek — 20 minutes on, 20 minutes off for the first 24 hours
Gently rinse with warm salt water from Day 2 onwards
Take prescribed antibiotics and painkillers for the full course as directed
Yoghurt, ice cream, khichdi, soft fruits — cool and soft for first 48 hours
Rest for Day 1. Keep head elevated when sleeping to reduce swelling
Suction from straws can dislodge the clot causing dry socket — avoid for 48 hours
Do not smoke for at least 72 hours — significantly increases dry socket risk
Do not rinse vigorously for the first 24 hours — can dislodge the healing clot
Avoid hot, hard, spicy, and crunchy food for the first 48 hours post-extraction
Avoid exercise and heavy lifting for 3–4 days as it can cause renewed bleeding
Do not touch the extraction site with fingers, tongue, or any instrument
Dry socket (alveolar osteitis) is the most common complication after wisdom tooth extraction — affecting approximately 2–5% of lower wisdom tooth removals. It occurs when the blood clot that forms in the extraction socket is dislodged or dissolves prematurely, exposing the bone and nerves beneath.
